How to Check Bill Payment Status

When you make a payment then you can also verify the status of your bill via diffrent methods are under, 

  1. Online Bill Checking: Open a  Mepco site and enter a  reference number and check as your payment complete.
  2. SMS Service: If you have registered for MEPCO’s SMS service, you will receive an SMS confirming your payment details, including the updated bill amount.

Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA)

This charge reflects the fluctuation in fuel prices used to produce electricity. It ensures that the consumer pays according to current market rates.

Tariff Rationalization Surcharge (TR Surcharge)

This surcharge is a result of the differences in rates between those set by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority and those implemented by Government of Pakistan. It may be accompanied by either additional charges or subsidies.

Finance Cost Surcharge (FC Surcharge)

A specific amount imposed to cover financing costs related to electricity provision. Currently, this surcharge is set at 43 paisa per unit.

Deferred Amount

This represents amounts from previous bills that can be paid later without additional penalties, offering flexibility to consumers.

Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTR Tariff Adj / DMC)

Adjustments applied quarterly to align billing with actual electricity usage and costs incurred by MEPCO.

General Sales Tax (GST)

A standard tax applied to all goods and services, including electricity, calculated based on the total bill amount.

TV Fee and Additional Charges

A mandatory charge of PKR 35 included in all electricity bills, used to support Pakistan Television services. Additional Charges or other fees may include penalties for late payments or specific service-related costs.

In July 2025, Mepco advises to their consumers to use the low electricity during peak hours and it helps to stable electricity supply and lower your bill will come. The peak hours electricity usages are below,

  • From December to February: 5 PM to 9 PM
  • From March to May: 6 PM to 10 PM
  • From June to August: 7 PM to 11 PM
  • From September to November: 6 PM to 10 PM
